Thaxton began his career in the appraisal industry in 1986 under the tutelage of Randy Button. After working with Mr. Button for 13 years, he opened Brown Appraisal Services in August of 1999. During the past 36 years, he has completed appraisals throughout the greater Knoxville area and surrounding counties. He is an approved FHA/HUD appraiser and is currently on the Department of Veterans Administration Appraiser Fee Panel. He loves this career that allows him to meet people and experience a wide variety of residential properties all over east Tennessee. Thaxton is active in the community. He teaches Sunday School, is a coach with the Knoxville Challenger League Baseball and Basketball, and Football Coach at a local middle school. He enjoys supporting University of Tennessee Sports, traveling and going to the lake with his wife Vanessa, daughters Samantha, Savanna (Husband Nick) and son Alex. You can usually find his two dogs Spike and Cooper with them as well.

Debbie has been the office manager (aka: Chaos Coordinator) at Brown Appraisal Services since 2016.

She takes care of all the daily office tasks and loves to keep the guys organized and on schedule. Debbie enjoys communicating with our lenders and clients and keeping everyone current on the status of their appraisal. She has an extensive background in banking and mortgage lending, so she is familiar with all aspects of the business. In her free time she likes to relax at home, go shopping, spend time with friends, and dog-sit for others.

Austin has been a member of Brown Appraisal Services since 2018. Before joining the company, Austin attended Tennessee Technological University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He began his appraisal career as a Trainee, before securing his certified residential license in 2021. Austin enjoys assisting clients and customers by providing a quality product in an efficient time frame. His favorite part of his job is traveling to different areas, and inspecting the various styles of homes. In his free time, Austin plays guitar at church, enjoys spending time with family, and relaxing at home with his wife Emily and two dogs, Baker and Nash.

Nicholas Chancey is in his second year as a real estate appraiser trainee at Brown Appraisal Services. Nick grew up in Clinton, TN and has worked in the surrounding area for several years. He graduated from King University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Nick is passionate about becoming a real estate appraiser because he enjoys helping people and connecting with homeowners. He also enjoys exploring the different styles of architecture in homes. In his free time, Nick can be found at the lake or on a Windrock trail with his wife Savanna and dog, Teddy.
